Unfiltered. Unpolished. Unapologetic:
The social shift we so desperately needed

Here we are—2025. The year we finally ditch the perfectly curated, overly edited, aesthetically rigid feeds and embrace something new...

The real.

Let’s be honest—social media has been stuck in this endless loop of perfection for way too long. Curated feeds, overly polished content, picture-perfect lives that make us feel like we’re trapped in some Instagram version of The Truman Show.

And don’t get me wrong—there’s nothing inherently wrong with beautiful visuals or well-crafted posts. But at some point, it all got so... clinical. So produced. Everyone started giving off this unattainable, shiny, magazine-cover version of their life. And after a while, it just felt exhausting, didn’t it?

Like... when did social media become so. bloody. hard?

I’d catch myself overthinking a simple upload because it didn’t fit my feed. Posting spontaneously felt impossible. Everything had to be intentional, strategic, on brand. And if it wasn’t? Well, then it wasn’t worth posting at all.

Eventually, the pressure to create content the right way became so overwhelming that I just... stopped.

No posts. No stories. Nothing.

This is the THE PARADOX OF THE PERFECT POST.

Because here’s the truth: our time is finite. Our creativity is finite. No matter how many iced lattes we drink or how many productivity hacks we implement, we cannot produce high-quality, high-impact content forever without running out of steam. It’s simply not sustainable. I tried outsourcing. I worked with talented social media managers who crafted stunning carousels and perfectly aligned content... but it didn’t feel like me. Because, well—it wasn’t me.

And you know what? When I really think about it... the accounts I love the most aren’t necessarily the most on-brand or aesthetic. They’re the ones where I feel like I know the person behind the page. The ones filled with stories, with depth, with something real to say.

They share their lives—their art, their travels, their thoughts and experiences. Not just when their makeup is done and their lighting is perfect, but always. And that makes me feel connected to them, even if we’ve never spoken.

SO HERE’S MY THOUGHT FOR 2025 —
HOW ABOUT WE JUST… BE?

This year, let’s embrace the messy, the unpolished, the off-the-cuff, real-deal kind of content.

Casual selfies. Videos with minimal edits. Coffee chats without makeup. Honest thoughts typed over whatever random picture happens to be last in your camera roll.

It’s time to stop stressing about creating and start creating.

(Think: your hot pink Panasonic camera from 2007, where we’d upload an entire album from one night and not give a single thought to how we looked.)

AND HERE’S WHY THIS MATTERS.

The online space is flooded. Coaches, consultants, stylists, digital marketers—everyone’s trying to grab attention in a sea of algorithm-approved, polished-to-perfection content. It’s a bloody jungle out there, you guys.

So what’s going to make you stand out?

You.

Your story. Your voice. Your quirks. Your raw, unfiltered humanness. Because here’s the one thing no AI, no algorithm, no trend cycle can ever replicate: the real you. So be human. Show up. Even when it’s not perfect.

ESPECIALLY When it’s not perfect.

This isn’t just a marketing shift—it’s a mindset shift. 2025 is about stripping back the social media performance and getting back to what actually matters: human connection.

Let’s make this the year we show up without the pressure to be perfect. This year, we’re not waiting for the perfect lighting, the perfect caption, or the perfect moment. We’re taking the pressure off.

Your audience doesn’t need you to be flawless.

They need you to be real.
