COPY MENTORSHIP

COPY MENTORSHIP

Why I DECIDED TO KISS GOODBYE TO IMPOSTER SYNDROME, AND HELLO TO A BRAND NEW SERVICE: COPY MENTORSHIP

‘Holy shit.….. That was the most valuable call I’ve had in so long. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!’

I'd just gotten off the phone with a new copywriter when I received her message.

This message was the turning point for me. The moment I realized I needed to stop making excuses and start offering a service that I had been thinking about for a long time.

If I’m honest, this message wasn’t unusual. I get lots of messages like this from budding copywriters and friends. I’ve been doing consultation calls (which I actually called just ‘having a chat’) with new copywriters for more than a year. I never placed a dollar value on these things because I strongly believe that not everything has to be transactional, and some things should just be done to help other people up.

But there comes a point when you realize that something you can offer actually holds a shitload of value and you can start charging for it.

That’s where I’m at.

The truth is… I’ve been interested in copy mentorship for a long time, but I never took the plunge. There are 2 main reasons for that:

1. most copy mentorships felt like a sleazy place.

Instagram is CHOCKA-BLOCK-FULL of coaches and mentors. Granted, some of these are probably fabulous. Others, not so much. I see a lot of unrealistic promises and hefty price tags with no real proof they can do the job. Quite frankly, I think a lot of people in this space are unethical when it comes to what they charge compared to what they can teach.

I didn’t want to be a part of that, and I certainly didn't want people associating me, or my brand with that sort of practice. It’s only now that I’m realizing that I shouldn’t let that stop me from sharing what I know.

They are not me, and I am not them. Simple as that.

2. Imposter syndrome kept rearing its ugly little head.

Truth be told, I didn't feel like I was qualified. After all, I don’t have an agency or 20 years of experience under my belt. I’ve never spoken at big events or launched my own podcast. I don’t have a huge Facebook community or copywriting course.

But I do have one very important thing.

A successful, booked-out business working with clients I adore, on projects that I love, making very good money doing so.

And when I realized that THAT’S actually what new copywriters are looking for, I finally recognized the value of what I can provide. I realized that me not being 10 years into the game is actually an advantage for my clients… Because I have just been where you are. I know what works, I know what doesn’t. I know how to get off the ground in a post-pandemic era. I know how to make connections. I know how to stand out in an increasingly saturated market.

And when it comes to booking clients, I have a 95% success rate after a discovery call.

I want to help other copywriters get the same.

So that’s what my mentorship’s all about… Guiding you to success with a no-bullshit approach in a judgment-free zone. Think practical, real-life steps to help your business propel.
